Valentine’s Day

If you have a significant other then this is the day for you. Remember why you fell in love and show her that you care. Your gift should be thoughtful and not just a card, flowers and candy.

Put thought into it – what’s her favorite perfume? What is an activity she’s always wanted to try but hasn’t? Make it happen! Maybe she just wants you to take the kids and leave her alone for a full day, do it

Also, don’t just wait for once a year to do something nice for her, plan something at least once a quarter.

What do you have planned?

I do not have a significant other so I will be waiting for this day to pass and stop reminding me that I am single……….LOL.

Financial Goals for 2019

A look back at 2018

Before going forward and making my 2019 goals. I need to take a moment and be thankful for the things I accomplished, which are:

1-   I paid off my three credit cards (Capital One, Bank of America and BJs) which was a total of $6,000 left.

2-   I started an emergency fund in a separate account and now have $2000 in it.

3-   I paid all my bills on time!

4-   I paid for my gym membership fully for the year at the beginning of the year and I have used my membership throughout the year.

2019 goals

A new year is about to start and here is what I will be working on.
I will get rid of my loan faster than my anticipated finish date.
I will keep my car clean with professional help (car wash).
I will take care of my hair by having my hairdresser wash and braid it once a month and I will take care of my body by working out with my personal trainer once a week (and I will work out by myself twice a week).

1-   Loan: I have a $35,000 loan that I took out to pay the difference of my house that sold at a loss. On a positive note, I no longer have a house hanging on my neck but the negative is I have a $35,000 loan to deal with. I pay $750.73 a month and if I stay on that course I will finish paying off my loan in 4 years. – For 2019, my goal is to make an additional payment of $249.27 a month towards the loan. That will be a total of $1000.00 I will pay per month and the length of time I will take to pay it off will decrease by about 11 months.

$35,000/$750.73 = 46.62 months = 3 years, 10 months

$35,000/$1000.00 = 35 months = 2 years, 11 months

2-   Car wash: I will take my car to the car wash once every two months; which is $29.80 each time and a total of $178.80 for the year.

($29.80)(6 months) = $178.80 for the year

3-   Hair care: I will get my hair washed and braided by my hairdresser once a month; which is $60 plus a tip of $15 and a total of $900 for the year.

($75)(12 months) = $900 for the year

4-   Personal training: I will continue working out with my personal trainer once a week; which is $60 per session, $240 a month and a total of $2880 for the year.

What are your financial goals that you are working towards?

Let’s Be Friends

I recently met someone new (aka Wonderful) – educated, funny, employed, age appropriate and a homeowner. After a wonderful, what I believed to be a first date (it wasn’t) – Wonderful told me that the only thing we could be was friends. YES, I was offered the dreaded “let’s be friends”. Friends?

After asking for clarification on what “friends” entails. I was told – going out to activities, lots of kisses, spending time together, and getting to know each other. Just no titles.

I thought about it and I’m trying it out ………. for now.

Movie Reviews

Movie Review: Friend Request (2016)

Directed by Simon Verboeven

At first glance this is the usual story about a popular college girl named Laura (played by Alycia Debriam-Carey) who accepts a Facebook friend request from a loner named Marina (played by Liesl Ahlers).

Marina is so happy to finally have a Facebook friend and then Laura talks to her in real life. Unfortunately, Marina feels that Laura is her real friend and really focuses on Laura. Laura gets uncomfortable and ends up unfriending Marina on Facebook. Marina tries to apologize and get Laura’s friendship back but it doesn’t work.

Fast forward, a supernatural occurrence and people start dying but not just any people but Laura’s close friends. Can Laura figure out how to save her friends and herself before it’s too late?

I love Facebook but after watching this movie I’m a bit more reluctant to accept friend requests because it might lead to death.
